Founding History

The International Society of Police Surgeons (ISPS) was formed in New York in 1987 by a group of police surgeons for the sole purpose of creating a forum of highly qualified medical and dental practitioners for the exchange of educational and scientific knowledge and to serve the health needs of law enforcement.

"A police surgeon is any health professional interested in serving the health needs of the law enforcement officer and maintaining high standards of physical health and for reducing psychological stress and tension on the officers allowing them to better perform their daily duties."
